Jeff Mishlove : Intuition Networker The Death of Socrates

The Death of Socrates

Posted on Jun 18th, 2006 by Jeff Mishlove : Intuition Networker Jeff Mishlove

The death of Socrates is one of the great, iconic moments of human culture. Perhaps more than any other philosopher, Socrates was prepared to face his death with serenity (although his companions were far from prepared for this). The Rainbow YinYang, with subdued colors due to the somber nature of this scene, represents here a universal reality -- to which Socrates was attuned -- that transcends our attachments to living or dying. It exemplifies the integrity and balance with which Socrates lived his life. This is why, after more than two thousand years, we still remember him as a great sage -- even though he did not leave us with any of his own writings.

This image was created from a nineteenth century steel engraving. It is approximately 36" x 24". All Rainbow YinYang images are copyrighted by Jeffrey Mishlove.
