Ariadne's thread enabled Theseus, the founder of Athens, to escape from the Labyrinth after he killed the legendary Minotaur. However, most myths suggest that she lived a sad life thereafter. This rare image suggests that she actually had an opportunity to celebrate her triumph. Perhaps, it is related to the legend of how she married the god Dionysius and was made immortal by Zeus.
This image was created from a nineteenth century steel engraving. It is approximately 28" x 24". All Rainbow YinYang images are copyrighted by Jeffrey Mishlove.
